New Seats, now My knees hitting console

Got new seats from Llebroc, the the 2004 models because I liked the color pattern. Anyway, I am 6-3 and now my right knee is jamming into the console. The hot foot is already all the way back. Any ideas? All I can think of is to cut the dash higher, or get rid of hot foot so my legs will be able to just relax under there. Has anyone ever experienced this? ITs a 1998 190DC.

Can you get a slide plate for your hotfoot and move it back? I'm 6' 5"...No problem with my 206...

I think its as far back as I can go to let the foot pedal not hit the back wall. Ill need to check to be sure. Whats the difference in a slide plate and just re-screwing the hot foot further back? Is it same thing, more conveinent for moving it

My 203 I purchased this week was owned by a guy 6'3".

here is what Nichols marine suggested and he said it worked great.

I will probably straighten it out for my use.

Re: New Seats, now My knees hitting console (Cruton)

I have a new 09 190CX DC ,Im 6 2"my passenger console was hitting my knees.I looked at some pics of 198 pass. consoles, they were cut shallower(same console)..So I tooka about an 1 -1/4" off.Looks Factory, plenty of knee room know..Peel off black trim, put duct tape on surface, mark your line with a sharpie. run same contour lines(black trim will fit perfect)I used a sawzall with a fine tooth blade..I used silicone rubber to install black trim. Will post pic later today..I have about 17" under console now.. Co angler can also see rod holder without bending over

Good job!!!!! I wonder if there is enough room to cut his driver console like that.

I was going to suggest the slightly turned hotfoot, but that is slick!!!!

Re: New Seats, now My knees hitting console (Lea)

Looks like I could take 1/4" off on drivers side if needed, switch panel is close.I have plenty of room on mine..Looks like our consoles are different from 203"s.I think they have a lot more console depth than 190 or 198.I could take a 1/2" more on Passenger side to exactly match drivers side.I can now see rod holder much better on passenger console and have plenty of knee room,Thanks.Lea

Depending on year of 203 whether there is room for much trimming or not. The newer ones (CXs) have the switches on the side under the shifter, rather than on the console like the Elites had (and yours has)..

Re: New Seats, now My knees hitting console (Lea)

I wanted to do that, but the carbon fiber switch panels are right down to the edge. No room to cut. A 98 190 might have the same problem. I'm only 5' 11", though, so not really a problem for me. I can drive 20 miles without my knees hitting the panel, it's getting in and out of the seat that's a little tight. Probably caused by my steady gorging process combined with assal horizontology.

Man, someone's going backward with design. I'm 6'4", 260, and I can sit down in my seat, behind the windshield, and straighten my legs out. In my 180.

I think I have a little space to cut under the dash. I thought of that, makes me nervous. Hot foot is all the way back. Either that or get rid of hot foot. Or go back to Deans seats.

Re: New Seats, now My knees hitting console (Cruton)

I had a hard time cutting on my baby also,If you put duct tape on and lay out your line with a sharpie.Use a fine tooth blade on a jig saw or a sawzall..you cant tell its not factory..I used a blowdryer too soften the black trim(I changed the corner a little) and applied a thin bead of silicone rubber on dash..Used a thin board, pried against the floor overnight until dry..This is only pic I have of before cut.I made a thin line(yellow on corner) If you look close..If we were closer I would be glad to alter It for you. This console was added when I purchased It from Freedom may be the reason It was deeper
