hmmm low rpm running 5100

I just purchased a 1989 184 without a motor. I had the same boat previously and had the transom go bad. The motor hadn't been run much since march, and the prop has some dings, but it would turn 5800 on the other boat and I only have it turning 5100 on the new hull. It ran good, I don't have a gps on it however it was spraying a solid roostertail probably 3 feet above the motor and makes me wonder if it is set too high. It is an old prop, and will get more details on it shortly

Lowering your motor will further decrease your rpms...

There are always differences in hull weight, 100 lbs is usually 100 rpms and mph in general..

I'd check my setup, and see if I could find a good known prop to test before I went any further.

I belive the prop is a lazer 2 but not sure the pitch

The right prop will be a 25M yamaha on a 6" plate set at 3 1/2" shaft under pad. Anything else won't be "best"..
