    HELP.... Johnson 225 Venom

    Morning,

Not real sure what going on with it, but here we go. I look down at the gauges before starting the motor and notice that the voltage gauge is setting between 9-12, so I hit the starter and it cranks up just fine. I then get out on the lake and notice that all the gauges start acting up and the horn sounds. I kill the boat and turn the key on and now it goea up to 12-14 and the boat starts up and runs fine. This morning after the battery has charged all night I turn the key on and it's setting between 9-12 again so I push the key in and the meter goes down to around 8.What is going on with this motor, battery, loose connection?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Get rid of the wing nuts and put on some nylon insert lock nuts. Or lock washers and SS hex nuts.

    Thanks Champ,

Will do, It really worried me when I saw the gauges acting up. I just replaced the rectifier in the spring of 2006 and was hoping it would be a simple fix insted of majpr expense.
