    2007 Champion 198

Was wondering what kind of speeds you guys get. Our Gander Mountain has a leftover w/ 225 hp HPDI. THey have discounted it to $30,000.

    Re: 2007 Champion 198 (Trent_in_BG)

The 198s are generally from 71 to 74 or so...depends on how it is set up, load, etc. This is one of the best hulls Champ has ever built for all - round performance.... Sounds like a good price!

Hope to welcome you into the Champion family....

I've seen 74.0 with nothing in boat, 69-71 with a load..

I fished a TOC out of Duane Harpers 198/225 HPDI several years back. That is one sweeet combo! It seems like we had it running 71 or 72 with a FULL and I mean a three day tournament FULL load. Garage space limits me to 18 footers.

Trent, if that Champ at Gander is white with silver & black trim & dual console, it is a sweet boat for sure. If it's the same one, we had it at our Spring Gander Mtn. store & it was transferred when they put Tracker products in. It was a sweet boat but sat out in the weather & needed to be under cover. It's an awesome tourny boat!

    Re: 2007 Champion 198 (Roddy)

supposed to be VERY dirty when delivered to Ky,
and comes with sinlge axle trailer???

also, doesn't seem to have a multi color option at all. Not even between the side pinstripes.

good deal though, if it'll clean up to new again.

UPDATE! Boat is an 06 model, not an 07. Called Gander Mountain, and the last 2 numbers on the hull ID are "06". It was news to them!
Champion did not make a 198 in 2007.

Not as good as a deal anymore.

    Re: 2007 Champion 198 (Roddy)

That's what I thought. We had it new at our Spring store and it was filthy when it left and the electronics (or at least the bow Lowrance) was already faded. I would try & talk them down. Pull NADA on it & take that with you because even though it is a "NEW" boat, as soon as you pull it off the lot, it becomes a used boat & only valuable as a used model.

I would have loved to have that boat, but even at a discount, it's still out of my price range.

Jeff is correct, Champ did not make a 198 in '07, but they brought it back in '08 and will have one in '09. Thanks for pointing out the 07 situation... I had forgotten ....

    Re: 2007 Champion 198 (Lea)

    Lea,

no 198 at all, in either the CX or Elite in 07.

Reason is they came out with the 200, and did not want both boats that year.

Call Champion if ya don't believe me.

    Re: 2007 Champion 198 (BassAm)

    Correct BassAM.

Yes it may be a new leftover 06, but once it pulls off the floor behind your truck, it has just become, as of next month, a 3 yr old used boat.

The boats worth $25,000 in my opinion.

I talked with the one of the managers yesterday, when I emailed them that I'd like to make an offer, and they said $29,995 is ROCK BOTTOM! And they did not want to hear any kind of offer!

Good luck selling it for that!

I believe you...I had forgotten the 07 situation. I'm old, ya know. I edited my post. I'm just glad they brought it back for 08 and 09!!!

If it is not faded by the sun from being out side it's a good deal you still have all the new boat warranties. If you like the color's go for it. If it is that one in the picture above jump all over it.

    Re: 2007 Champion 198 (55excl)

I'm told it needs a VERY sturdy detail, and again, why buy a soon to be 3 yr old, leftout in the Texas weather boat (boat spend most of it's life outside in Texas), when you can buy a new 2008 for under $34,000!

I looked @ this boat before I bought. I know its been sitting out for quite some time also. But this dealership will make you smoking deals on Champions. I found a smoking deal on a used 198.

then by all means, take your money elsewhere. By the sounds of it, they will be sitting on that boat until they get a clue.
