Decarb using filter?

Guys, what are your thought on decarbing by using a water separator/filter like a Racor? What I'm asking is, do you think it's fine to fill up the bowl with decarb fluid, run the motor some... let it sit then to run the remainder of the decarb fluid out?

To me, it seems it would be much easier to do that way then to spray into the airbox/carbs as I have been doing in the past. Ok, I've been using that handy dandy valve on my older carbed motor, but it' I always lose the hose and when I get to the dealer, it's almost never they have the decarb with the hose attachment in stock.

The problem is that the decarbonizer can and will eat the rubber hoses leading to the engine, then you will have to contend with the debris in the fuel system. We have had a few guys try it, it looks like a "gooo fest" internally thruout the fuel system. Remember, rubber is a byproduct of crude oil. Crude oil is another form of carbon. You can tell when this happens, the hoses pinch easily and stay pinched. This is also why we DO NOT use 6 cans of engine tuner to decarbonize an engine as some people do! Too much will eat the seals and plasic parts right out of an engine!!!

I think I know where you are coming from. I saw that Dunk has become a recent poster here and I remember him from the BFHP SaltH20 boards, he recommends a good shot of Seafoam in the H20 seperators. Not OMC engine tuner.

Yes, Dunk does recommand Seafoam because he says Engine Tuner of today isn't what it was in the past. Reguardless of what's used, I was wondering how well adding decarb in the separator would compare to spraying.

Yep for a gradual treatment for a motor that has never been decarbed that is what I'd do also. but for a properly maintained motor, BRP Tuner is the way to go!!

In fact, Bombardier no longer sells a case of injector hose Engine Tuner. Dealers just buy a case of the spray nozzle cans and we buy the injector hose cap seperately (for the Schraeder valve injection method).
