    96 Johnson Venom 200

    I've got a 1996 Johnson Venom 200 on my boat and I was going to get it serviced. I've had it since Sept. 07 and it's done pretty good. I've read where some guys say there's is cold natured. Mine starts pretty fast, but when I take off to get it on plane it seems a little sluggish. Is that something that servicing will take care of ? When it gets on plane it runs great.

    How long do you let it idle and warm up before you take off?

    It usually warms up for about 5 minutes or so, while my partner parks the truck.

    Is this only a problem the first time you plane off or does it do this every time?

    has it finished its "fast idle" before you hammer down?

    mine will act a little funny if its cold and the idle hasn't dropped down below 1k rpm. i just idle around until it decides it is warm enough.

    It is a problem I have most of the time and my boat has the fast idle on it to . I always let it get warmed up before I take off. It's got a hot foot in the floor if that would make any difference.

    I should have said hesitates a second or two before actually taking the gas and going. I don't know the technical word to use for it. Once it gets going it runs perfect. Thanks for replying.
