My 96 225 rude doesent seem to want to come off high idle ever. it idles at about 1600 rpms. I dont see anything broke but I dont know what makes it go to high idle. The idle timing is all the way back against the stop,Im lost!!! Any ideas. Thanks

Is the high idle while on a hose flusher, or while the boat is floating on the water?

Disconnect the Quick start lead on the port side of the head white/black lead and see it it comes down. Could be a bad sensor side. Do it in the H20.
It goes up in the water and on the hose. When I come off plane and go to nuetral it goes way up. Will try the wire next time out. Thanks

You will also have to check the linkage synchronization and adjustment as explained in the service manual and pull the air box to make sure all the throttle plates are closing and opening together.
Make sure the spark advance is not sticking or moving around at idle, too.

I fired it up on the hose and looked at the spark advance and it was on the stop.I didnt want to move it when on the hose. I will take it to the lake and play with it some. Thanks
