I have heard that boiling your plastics will make them softer even once they cool down.
Anyone do this? How long do you boil them? have you ever added scent like garlic salt to them while doing it? If so does it work?

I have heard of boiling swimbait tails to straighten them out

NO, oit does not make them softer. The degree of softness is in the initial
plastisol. You can add scent to it which will only stay on the outside.
YES, it will straighten them out if you heat them in boiling water for a minute or so and then put them on a nice flat surface until they cool.
Hope this answers your question.

I will respectfully disagree with two things.
1. Boiling the tails on swimbaits will make the bait swim with a wider kick due to the plastic being "softer". I boil all my swimbaits right out of the pack. I ain't talking hollow bellies either.
2. Keep some cold water in a container beside where you are boiling them and dunk them in there after you are done, then dry and hang upright. Laying them on their side will just cause you the same problems you had before boiling.

I have boiled some with salt to help the salt get into them, and they felt softer, but not for sure if it helped much...
