    Kidney Stones

I have Crohn's disease which makes me more likely to have kidney stones. I have had the many times in the past and each time I have had lithotripsy to break them up. The down side is it usually takes several times to get the stone completely broken up enough to pass.

This time I am considering having Percutaneous nephrolithotomy to remove the stone. This way I would only have to be put to sleep once, spend one or two nights in the hospital and be done with it. (Or at least that is how I am looking at it)

Has anyone had this done before? How was the recovery time for you?

I am not sure what mine was called but they went up there and lazered a stone that was the size of a grape took 2 trips to get it. The worse part by far is the stent they leave in first day or two little sore but not bad the dam stent. I have had 6 surgeries mostly Lithrotripsy

This is where they go in thru your back and punch a hole into your kidney to break up and suck out the stone. I guess I should have explained a little better

Been having pains for a couple of months now. Doubled over once. Had a C-scan and the VA doc said it wasn't anything to worry about and just drink a lots of water and hope it passes.

    Re: Kidney Stones (Wall-I)

I had one last year. Doc said it was too late for the sonic machine so I would need to pass on my own. This was the worst pain I have ever experienced in my life!!!!! Thing is the stone was only about the size of maybe a quarter grain of rice. However, when I passed it and saw what it looked like I understood why so much pain. Looked like a jagged piece of crystal. Took like 2-3 weeks to pass.

Danny....I don't know the answer to your question but I know how you can stop having the stones. My wife had them on a regular bases and she found a natural remedy and hasn't had one in 9 years. It really works. If interested in knowing more let me know...... winhammond@aol.com.

I HAD A STONE LAST Year. Hurt like hell. My doctor said if I would drink a glass of real lemonade everyday that I would not have another one . He said that he's had 100% sucess with this . Good luck . There is no way to get any comfort.

Ohhhh son! I can tell you this since I have passed 4 stones in the past 8 years or so. The most pain I've had was this sort of stomach cramp but it's a lil over to the left side near your waist and it starts soft and slow and thats what make you think that you have a stomach ache but as time goes bye it keeps getting tighter. I equate to this, like if two people twist o towel and as you twist the tighter it gets and thats exactly what it feels like. One day around 5pm I started feeling it and bye 10pm I was pacing, squirming like worm to try and get away from the pain and crying like a baby. OHHHH Son........does that hurt! My girl was gonna take me to the hospital but I said NO WAY.......So, a hot bath calmed it down and some vicodin knocked me out. Bye morning I was good as new. But yeah drink lots of water with lemon or at least water alone.

    Re: Kidney Stones (wisranger188)

I've passed at least 10 stones in the last 15 years.
Fortunately mine were all small enough to pass in a day or 2 (although at the time they felt the size of a golf ball).

I've never had to have one removed or broken up, I can only imagine the pain of that.

    Good Luck

As you can see in the upper left, it's so big it isn't going anywhere. This is from two years ago when I had back surgery so it is much bigger now.

    Re: Kidney Stones (TightLip)

I had two kidney stones removed this morning in the hospital short stay section. here's what the Doc. did to me, after arriving at short stay, the nurse put an IV drip soultion so I would not get dehyrated and about and hour later my ansethia ( kock out ) nurse came by and explained what was going to happen during the removel of the stones. later my surgeron came by and talked a few minutes, the konck out nurse came back and gave a shot of some good juice, that's all I know untill I woke up in the recovery room and still had the IV in my arm and my throat was getting sore from the breathing tube they put down me for the operation, about 1-1/2 hours from that and eating some ice and a few cookies they let me dress and wheeled me down to my ride, I have two drugs to take now and one is for pain only if needed and the other is one pill three times a day for infection, I got home and went to bed and slept for maybe 4 hrs and been up for awhile now, the Doc. will also install a Stint inside your manhood so that you can take a leak without to much pain, my Doc. says three weeks of recoup time and then he'll remove the stint while at his office. I would recommend this procedure anytime conpared the the kidney pain that I had for two weeks before today, good luck and like I have been told all day, it's not going to hurt, the operation didn't, it's just when you get home and have to take a leak, you'll know then.

I would not wish them on my worst enemy. I pissed one out last year that I took to the doc. He was amazed that I was able to pass it. It was the size of a small pebble. After my last attack in June I said no mas and stopped drinking pop almost completely (only drink it when out to eat). Apparently the phosphoric acid causes stones.
