    Todays youth???

Its really not the youths fault. its the parenting. Its scary to say the least. my wifes grandson who is just learning to drive just backed his mommas new Kia into a telephone pole in my yard. we seen him do it from inside the house. he never turned around and looked and just laughed about it afterwards. i was talking to my moms on the cell phone out side when they came back from the store. his mom went into the house and he sat in the Kia. i walked up to the window and he didnt even notice i was there. he was busy tuning the radio. when he did notice me i looked at him and then looked at the telephone pole and kinda raised my arms like WTF? he rolled the window down and said What? I started to walk away and his mom came out and i said where are yall going now and she said they were going to the store to get him hair color cause he wanted a change!!! what the hell are these kids coming too? scary...my wife then tells me its none of my business.........time for another drink

They are a different breed. No respect for anyone or anything. I teach 150 of them and it's a shame where a large majority of them are going.

Im with ya...I really fear for where this world is heading..Parents want to be best friends instead of parents..I watch these spoiled ass kids come down to the shop for there first car..parents want to spend 5k or less...By the time they leave after a tempure tantrum or two the kid is in a 10k car with the loan book going to mommy

A few weeks ago one of these punks was at the shop and i was having the Mom sign the paper work and pay for an 8k car for Edward scissor ears and face..She says to him..Can you please run out to the car i forgot my check book...The kid says "Uggg go get it yourself" I said to the Mother "I will gladly rip up the paper work and take him outside for you" She was horrified...............At me for offering to straiten out her son She almost didnt buy the car because i offended her son by calling him out....This world is so F******!!

    Re: (cowtrimmer)

Parents need to take control--they are kids. My granddaughter was caught talking on her cell phone while driving--punishment was, no car for two weeks, no cell ph. for one week. Since the no phone use of ANY kind was established before she ever drove a vehicle she had another surprise. The car went into the shop and something was downloaded between the car and her ph. which disables the ph. while the car is in motion. Her half for that upgrade was $125.00

And now she understands the next time (maybe the use of a friends ph. while driving) she loses the PRIVILEGE of driving as long as she lives at home.

Guess i am lucky! Never had 1 problem with ether child! Then again my wife was a full time mother! And she did a outstanding job raising both of our kids!! It is in the control of the parents!!

    Re: (Quickrelease)

This is a main factor in my wife and I homeschooling our 2 kids. She stays at home and "raises" our kids. It's "gut check time" America. Until we can figure out a way for families to make it on one income and start raising their kids instead of the schools and video games, we will continue to see the decline in our children and society as a whole.

Excellent statement. I see it every day. I was always told I was being to hard on my children. My children's friends hated me because I challenged them. But, my children have now grown up and left home and they are doing fine, while the rest have issues with drugs and disrepect. I always told my children I was not their friend but their father.

    Re: Todays youth??? (black dallas)

    parenting is definately the problem

I have an only child, he's 17 now, and we are best friends.
We always talk openly, he knows he needs not keep secrets from me, and I always keep an open mind.......yet!....he does "fear" me, and that's good!

He has just completely his Boy Scout Eagle award, and is a straight A student.

Looking back, I am so glad I became very involved with his life

Some parents are waaaaay too selfish to be parents. Thye don't bother trying to be part of their kids lives.

I know what you are saying. I teach kids also and they have no ambition (majority of them). Maybe 1 out of 10 has an idea of learning. They want and I say want what others have without working to the goal. Just give it to me is what they say. Most need a great big butt whoopin like my dad gave me whan I would goof up. It helped me I am sure.

ADHD was not an excuse when dad would cure it for us. Hehe, Thanks dad for instilling within me intrinsic values of working for my goals.

Todays kids want free things and have an excuse for all.

I'm 23, and I know what you guys are saying, a buddy of mine owns a small performance shop, he's in his late 20's, and he was telling me the other day that he can't keep help. Told me that the majority of the early tewenties guys that he hires to do the grunt work, clean up the shop, etc. don't last because they want to text all day instead of working.

Don't lump youth all together in one statement.......I saw some pretty amazing things out of some pretty young soldiers.....

Actually from my experience coaching and being in the Military I think that 99 percent of todays youth will go out of their way to please you if you show good leadership and treat them with respect.....

Of course there is always those 1 percenters......
