    Bassboat Speed Claims

Why do people consistently embellish thier top end speed from their boat? Ego? I don't know that's why I'm asking, fellows around me have a 18 foot Javelin with a 150 that tops out at 74+ MPH on GPS . Another has a 97 Procraft with a 175 and he sees 76 all he time on GPS.

I was going to purchase a bigger motor soon for more speed and HP but I think by these quotes I need to downsize for speed! These are a few from fishing sites in my area, the list could go on and on.

See your boat speed claim seems alot more realistic, 87 mph out of a 250 strapped to a Bullet hull slinging a 28P prop. These other ones are just plain ludicrous.

I got my ranger up to 90mpg GPS. It was chasing my truck on the highway but I think it still counts.

wow...that extra little bit of horsepower over my 115 adds 24 miles a hour...

I know a jav 18 with a 150 will run low to mid 60's, but 74 is crazy.

I need to talk to that guy then I have spent a small fortune on mine to get 65gps then the weather and water temps have to just right and I have other javelins asking my setup. Although I can show you 74 on speedo just have to turn the gps off so I don't get caught in a lie!

According to him it ran 52 MPH from the factory GPS, by adding a Raker prop and JP he was able to elevate his top speed by over 22 MPH, I guess you need a Raker prop and Jackplate and your in the 70's with ease
