What brand firearm and type would you choose?

My Father In Law owns a gun store and has told me he will give me a great deal on a firearm, I'm interested in an AR15 type weapon but could go a different way just as easily. The link is to his very inexpensive site but has the brands of firearms he deals with listed. Based on the brands listed what type of firearm would you choose?

Some of you guys are MUCH more knowledgeable than me on this topic!

Depends on what you want it for. I have rifles, shotguns, revolvers and pistols in a variety of gauges and calibers, all with a different use. Large game hunting, small game hunting, upland bird, waterfowl, trap, skeet, plinking, long range target, and defense both inside the house and outside the house. Narrow down what you want to do with it then decide on the type, then the caliber/gauge. Go out and shoot several and then decide. Good luck.

Would be cool to have a FIL who owns a gun store.

If he only carries what is listed go with a Smith M&P15 or a Ruger Piston 556

It really depends on the intended purpose of the firearm, personal defense, plinking, hunting, long range target shooting?

^ Exactly what do you want to do with it or more simply what do you want to accomplish with the firearm?

Why is everybody these days wanting AR's?
That ship sailed several years ago, and now all brands are way, way overpriced for what you get.
I'm by know means a G-lock fan, worse comes to worse you can always throw it at'm.
Take a look at one of the G's and get a carbine upper. Then you have a pistol to carry or throw, and a rifle to play with for less than the cheapest AR on the market.

AR just because I am familiar with them due to prior service (Army). I'd like one and put an SSAR15 on it. It would be fun. Purpose would be to plink and play. I have a Judge for home protection.
