Hutch,
Yes there are several beeps that go off on your motor when conditions exist. Once you turn the key the alarm will sound to verify horn, quick beeps for 1 minute low oil, solid alarm at high speed with no loss of RPM, Fuel restriction. Solid Alarm at high speed and SLOW Mode (motor goes into low RPM operation), Over temp or no oil condition. Newer versions of your motor have a System Check Gauge.
Ok the reason i ask is because one is going off. It's a steady beep. It did it once when i was idling out of the dock. So i shut it off and check to see if i have enough oil in the tank it was 3/4 full. So i start it back up and no alarm. So i take off maybe 600 yards to my parents pontoon and still no alarm. Then my dad wants to see if it will go off again. So i take off again. I made it maybe 1000 yards and it started beeping again. So i shut it off and my dad tows me in and we load it up. The motor has always smoked. But wasn't when the alarm was going off. So i figure the VRO is going out. Whatcha think?
If the motor is going into SLOW mode it won't rev over 3000 and you have no oil or over temp. If it will rev, you have a fuel restriction problem. Try squeezing the bulb next time, if it is soft and/or the alarm goes away you've found the problem, then find the cause
It's not a solid alarm so i don't think it's a fuel problem. It's a steady off and on beep. Like the low oil alarm. So i don't think the motor was getting enough oil.
