Need Help Now!! 1998 150 Ficht dumping fuel into airbox, won't start!!

Today at my tourney, launched boat engine fired up just fine, sounded good, later on in the day I made a WOT run down lake and when I came to idle, the motor sounded a little more rattly(?) like. Fished a while, fired her up and still sounded different, ran back down lake fished near ramp area (thank god) and the motor would not start, primer bulb kept pressure until I hit the ignition, then flat, repeatedly would not start, no buzzers. I got the boat loaded, and when I trimmed the motor down, fuel was running out of the prop exhaust, took off the air box and it had fuel in it, trimmed the motor up and fuel dumped out of the #1 cylinder intake!!!!! (Good amount) Please help, I have a tourney next Sun. and am going to St. Claire on Mon. 22nd.

Pulled #1 & #3 plugs just for comparison, plug #1 was looking alot more blackend than the #3 by far. These were new this March, indexed and gapped correctly. Before March 10th or so I had the motor hooked up to the computer @ marina and said it only had 205 hrs. on her and only one code, Overheat @ 160hrs, I know when that happend, taking off out of Bass Haven @ St.Clair, guy in front of me churned up the bottom and clogged the intake.

Okay, some good news, I pulled and replaced #1 plug, fired on first try, lots of smoke then it burnt off, flushed with water, still sounded rough, check engine light and buzzer went off. If the plug fouled and wasn't burning off fuel, would that have caused all of that excess fuel? Now its thrown a code right? Please I need some expert advice and help. Thanks in advance

More good news, I forgot to plug sensor in to fuel injector, I unplugged it because I planned on pullling injector to take a peek at it. Plugged it back in and fired her up, no check engine light or buzzer, sounded good, but still seemed to be a little off. I'm no marine tech, but seems like the timing is off or something @ idle, rpms go up and down (varies), between 500-700, not really that rapidly though, its done that since I can remember but maybe I'm paranoid now. Any suggestions??

Couple of things to check. Check the hose coming from the vapor seperator to the manifold. If it allows fuel to leak by when the key is activated, service or replace the unit. If you have the vapor seperator on the front of the engine, you can service it. If you have the newer style seperator, the rounded canister type, replace it. If the vaporseperator float stays open, raw fuel enters the engine. This is a very dangerous situation. Do not run the engine til you find the problem! Also, check the fuel lift pump for leakage from the pulse hoses into the engine, these are the hoses that lead from the pump to the block. If the hoses have excess fuel in them, the pump will more than likely need serviced. This is one of those situations that it would be better to have an experienced tech chech the engine out.If you are unsure of any of this, take it to a tech.

Thanks Rudetech!! So here's what's happening now. No more fuel leakage, hoses look good, I pulled the replacement plug in #1 cylinder after I refired and ran it on the muffs. Still sounded like it was missing and out of sync. Checked the rest of the plugs, seemd wetter with oil and like they weren't burning good or gooped up with carbon (or both). Did a spark test on #1 cylinder, had spark but not what I'd call an exceptional amount by any means. No more check enginie light or buzzer. A guy in my club came over to check it (He rebuilt his carbed 150) thinks maybe power pack is bad and not getting enough spark to burn the gas, causing the miss and timing to be off. Just a guess. I will call marina tomorrow. As for the fuel dumping, no more. think that was because I primed it so many times, soaked the plug in #1 cylinder and had no where for it to go but out of the intake and in to the engine compartment. Keep it coming Rudetech, Rusty, and Seahorse,I need some input from you experts!

The plugs will look wet when you run them on the hose.... only way to truly check the plugs is go to the lake, warm the motor, do a wot full trim run and then shut the motor off, troll in, pull the plugs and then read them.....
