    motor height suggestion?

Got a new boat, and compared to similar boats, i think i need to adjust my height.
Its a 2008 Skeeter ZX200 with 08 VMAX 200 hpdi series 2. with T1 prop. all factory. The boat runs good, but only 62-63 mph max, at approx. 5800 rpm, with bout 20psi- water pressure. At this speed it is a very smooth and stable ride, almost too much. The jackplate is 7-8 dots up. I feel like the boat is sitting in the water too much on pad.

Not very happy with the speed, What can i do to get more mph.

Do i raise the jack plate, to raise boat out of water more on pad?? Will that give me more speed? Im new to this type of stuff.

    Thnks

    hi,

lowering your jack plate will create more lift and hoist your transom and hull up out of the water, creating less wetted surface on the hull.

raising your jack plate will allow the transom and hull to settle deeper into the water, but also allow the prop to slip more - inceasing rpm and sometimes speed.

you just have to experiement on the water.

read this - it will help:

You may want to post this on the "Bass Boat Setup" forum as well as the "Skeeter Boats" forum. Plenty of good help there...

I had an 06 ZX200DC with a 200 HPDI, non Vmax motor, and the best it would run was about 63. I have a friend with a boat and motor the same year as yours running 66-68 in the cooler weather. My non Vmax motor was a little weak, I think, compared to the same HP Vmax one.

Not sure about lowering motor gets more boat out of water. I have zx 200 2009 w/ vmax 200 at 66.7 sog 8 dots on plate. good watter pressure but I can trim it all the way and it throughs a big tail. I am not looking for more and the handling and time to palneare great so I stoppped messing with it.
