05 vmax 150 idle

Having trouble with a 05 vmax 150 carb motor idling....I can crank on muffs at house and will sit there and idle like a champ around 1000rpm , put in gear and spin prop, still idles great,cut it off and crank it back up numerous times and all is good... take to river and put in water does not want to idle, crank ups idles rough and then dies..., will crank back up but does not idle smoothly,if i put in gear and press the hot foot a bit it will stay running but if u let off it dies....question is with motor in water, does it put more load on the motor than with it just on muffs?...should i just idle it up more on the muffs?

Yea theres more load in the water than on the muffs I had that happen on my old evinrude

make sure the motor is level and not trimmed up when your on the water.

Motor is level...any idea what idle rpm should be on this motor?...

It think it's 700 R's.

my 07 manual says 700 + or - 25
