    water pressure gauge question

posting for a friend, he has around a '99 225 v-max and was getting ready to go out today and noticed his gauge was stuck around 10. He's curious what could be the problem and potential fix. Thanks

Sounds like it froze! If the temperature dipped below freezing and there was any water left in the gauge itself or the tube then it's bye bye to the water pressure gauge!
No way to fix other than a new gauge,I know this from experience.
    Very common problem up North.

Re: water pressure gauge question (bama railman)

Either a froze/busted gauge or trash in the line would be what I would check for.

    Trash in the line ......
    - unhook hose from gauge
    - unhook hose from engine block fitting
    - push compressed air through the hose to attempt to blow crud out.

It's usually best to either have a friend hold the opposite end to see if anything comes out, or put the hose end in a jar to catch it.

It's generally going to be sand, wets, grass, moss, etc.

    Busted gauge ......
    - will generally stay on '10psi in this case' after the hose is disconnected
    - can be tested with low psi compressed air (but care must be given)

If ya'll have had a lot of freezing temps, and the boat is kept outside ....... I would check for busted gauge first ...... pretty common problem for most that have not disconnected the line during winter months.

    Good Luck.

It froze. Mine froze but still "works". It zeroes at 10lbs and goes up from there...

If it's a Faria send it back in and they will fix it for $15.00. Better than paying full price for a new one.
