If a person wanted to rig a 200 SHO on a Walleye Boat, what can they do?

Say for instance a new Stratos 385 XF. It has a 25" Transom.

If someone wanted a 4.2L SHO 200 on it, are they out of luck? Would have to run either a 200 HPDI or a weak kneed F200 4-Stroke?

The offshore 4.2L V6 engines are the same as the SHO. The difference is the shaft length and the paint scheme. They do not currently offer a 200 in the Offshore 4.2L engines.

SHO is purely a marketing term used for the bass boat crowd.

Answer: Order the weak kneed 200 V6 until they offer the 4.2L in an Offshore 200 or pick a different boat so you can get the 225 or 250 4.2L Offshore.

    Aha!

    But there IS NO offshore 200 4.2L! Just a 225, 250 and 300

    Check it out for yourself...

I knew this before asking, so I was hoping someone that a dealer or somebody that has ties to Yamaha had something for me...

From your link, click on the "high power" part. Under the specs, they list a 25 inch shaft.

    Oops, not a 4.2, sorry.

Thanks Kenneth, but I already knew that it wasnt a 4.2 "SHO". Its the old 3.3L F200 4-stroke..

So, my question is the same

If a Walleye guy wants a 200 Yamaha, they either have to go with a HPDI, or an old school F200.

I was in the same situation as you. Ended up with a lund and was lucky enough the max hp was 225 so I could get the 4.2ltr offshore. The only other option is to buy a 200 sho and put an extention on it(if available yet) but that doesn't seem to be to practical. So basically the old F200 or the 2.6 200hpdi is your option. Or if possible go to a bigger boat with a higher hp rating.

Getting an HPDI as an option is fine for those that want and like 2-strokes. But IMO this is bad marketing for Yamaha. Leaving these guys out in the cold with the old F200 as the only 4-Stroke option...

IMO they just need to do away with the enitre F-Series of 200-250hp (including the Sport) OR start building them for Mercury again and paint em black
