OX66 200 Hard to Start later in day

I have a 2000 OX66 200 that when I pump the bulb first thing in the morning it fires up no problem. As the day progresses, I have to fether the hot foot when I am cranking it to get it to start. It acts like it is loosing fuel pressure because it just bumps once and doesn't start. If I fether the hot foot, it gets gas into the system and starts. I have had the fuel pump worked on about 18 months ago. Is it time for a new fuel pump you think? Believe it is the original one. Thanks

There are three low pressure fuel pumps. They are easy to check. Two bolts hold them on. If you take all three off leaving all the hoses hooked up then squeeze the fuel bulb if fuel leaks out of them they are bad. I would replace them all if one is leaking.

Don't know if this helps but I never have to pump the bulb, it's always hard. You might have a small leak somewhere.

Pumped the bulb and watched the fuel pumps, don't appear to have any leaks. Replaced primer bulb and still losing pressure after a few minuets. Bulb doesn't stay hard and I can pump more gas into the filter. Any ideas?

The primer bulb has nothing to do with the motor not restarting. There’s always fuel in the vst especially after you make your initial run. What is your idle rpm when motor is warmed up to operating temperature? Often it won’t restart if the idle screw has backed out. When motor is cold ecu advances the timing for easy start up.

RPMs not registering on tach when idle. When I give it gas, the tach registers. Same problem still exsist when I took it out Thursday. Ended up taking it to the shop. Hope it doesn't cost a arm and a leg. Keep your eyes out in the For Sale post. Kid #2 on the way so looks like my Skeeter will be up for sale when it gets out of the shop.

Sounds like you need to turn up the idle screw.

    Hi guys,
I've been watching these topics with much interest of late. I've got a 2000 OX66 150hp, and it's doing the exact same thing. I have not looked at anything yet, but will sometime soon, hopefully. Started great for me Friday, then the rest of the day was a real challenge. I plan on taking the fuel pumps off and pumping them to see if I've got leakage anywhere. I question the o2 sensor too, but I do believe I've got an air leak or something somewhere that's causing this.
When I do get it started, it smokes like you've never seen. Don't remember it doing that just last month when things were good.
I'm really hoping Skeeter will have some info for us when the boat returns from the shop. Thanks--

Update it ended up being the diaphram on the middle fuel pump after all Mechanic rebuilding all 3 pumps for me. Rebuild kit was only $10 each. Thanks for all the helpful suggestions
