Need advice

New to the board. Running a 250 series 2. Motor starts ok in the morning but idles a little rough and every now and then I hear a light knock. After fishing for a while and running around the motor will be hard to start and sometimes choke out as soon as it fires. Smokes some at start then to. Any ideas?

Change out the 2 or 3 low pressure fuel pumps on the side of the motor. Here is some reading on how to check them.
