    Question about rpms

Right now due to a stretched out throttle cable or a adjustment i can not figure out Iam only getting 5300 rpms on my slightly moded 1994 3.0 liter limited edition rude. is it ok to keep running it intell i get it fixed ? 6100 is my redline and i would hate to cause any problems to a motor that i have invested so much in

    Re: Question about rpms (champ,204dcx)

I just pulled the airbox off and my butterflys are at a 90 degree angle when I put the hot foot to the floor. Does this rule out stretched linkage ? and what should I look for next ? I have had it at 6000 rpms before it sat for awhile so I know my set ups correct and the motor is capable of 6k

Did you use BRP fuel conditioner?

If not, I would check the compression, ignition and then look close at the fuel system.

You have not changed the prop, motor height or added any weight to the boat have you?

    Re: Question about rpms (RUSTY63)

I did not use any brp fuel conditioner nor did I raise or lower the motor height nor did I put a different prop on it,

I have checked the compression and did a fire test on all cylinders. they were all good numbers and all cylinders were firing.

Are you using fresh fuel? If you are dealing with fresh fuel, you may have a stuck float, resticted needle jet or something along those lines. If it's set for a year, I'd recommend carb jobs all around.. Make sure the timing is where it should be on wide open throttle. NOT ON A HOSE!!! It must be checKed while in the water or on a test wheel.
