Changing Oil brands

I run a 2004 200 OX66 3.1L Vmax and I have run 2M in it the entire time now it is just too pricey, if I change to Quick Silver Premium Plus will I have any problems?

I've heard of several people using it with zero issues...mainly because it's easy to obtain.

very easy the academy down the road has shelves of it. I just want to see if there has been an issue with it at all, or anybody made the switch I am looking at and had issues or had no issues?

Do a search on Quicksilver oil and you will find plenty to read and all say positive things about it.

That's what I've been running since new. No Yammie dealer within 50 mi of me. Wal-Mart here sells the premium Quicksilver for $19.95 a gallon.

I am hearing nothing but good things about it so I think I am going to switch if there are any guys out there who say no please post.

I wouldn't be concered changing brands as long as it was a well known premium oil. This includes: AMSOIL, Yamalube, Quicksilver, Penzoil, Evinrude XD 50 and 100, Mercury. Just make sure you use up most of the oil that is currently in the tank before adding the Quicksilver to minimize any compatibility issues.

You will be fine with Q Silver,I've been using it for years and its easy to find in most stores. Make sure you're using a carbon additive like Seafoam or Ring Free in your gas.

Thanks so much guys, yep I use ring free in every tank. I also use Stabil Marine Ethanol treatment as well in every tank.

I blew the power head on my 03 200 Hdpi vmax back in 07(covered under warranty), had always run 2m and ring free, after that I switched to penzoil premium plus $15 at wal-mart and no ring free. Figure heck if it's gonna blow anyway might as well run the cheaper stuff, No issues at all since switching, and now the motor smokes less, and uses less oil! go figure.

Same here no problems at all with Penzoil. Alot less smoke and cleaner plugs too. I use seafoam instead of ring free.

Swapped over to Pennzoil recently got as much Yamalube out of the tank as I could(not the one on the motor)so far so good..a couple more trips and I'll change the plugs...also run Stabil and Seafoam as well....150HPDI

I was told by my dealer that Yammy-lube was the only oil that wouldn't set up or gel at the bottom of the tank if it sat for any length of time. Is this true? I have an 05 Yamaha 150 V-MAX and Yamma-lube is the only oil I have ever used. I would be willing to switch for a cheaper brand if it won't damage the motor.
