1989 130 yamaha

I have a 1989 130 Yamaha on the back of my norriscraft just got it on tuesday. Took it out right after i bought the boat and when i would go to take off the motor would cut off, then after i would get it goin and went up the river and go to slow down and stop it would shut off as well. Also when i went to put it on the trailer and gave it gas the motor shut off as well. This boat has been sitting at the dealer since the end of last summer and i am sure it hasnt been ran. What should i do to fix these problems or what might be wrong?

Sounds like a fuel problem. It sounds like the motor is running a bit rich and wetting the spark plugs. Have the carbs cleaned, I'm sure you'll find that the needle and seat are stuck open allowing way to much gas to find its way in. Also, check to make sure that your pilot jet and main jet are the correct size for your elevation. That can be checked by your local dealer or by yourself if you happen to have the correct service manual. Also, I would reccomend running Ring Free and a fuel stabilizer with every tank, this will keep the gas fresh and help stop carbon buildup in the cylinder heads.

Ok now i am getting frustrated. I took my boat out yesterday just to run it alil you know. Got it out on the water ideled in the water letting the motor worm up befor i take off. Well i get it to take off with no problems. I ran it up and down the river a couple of time with now problems. I shut off the motor and fished a worm water run off. Well when i got done fishing started up the motor and head up river take off was good got up on plane very fast, got to max speed which was bout 53 mph and all the sudden the motor starts to die out on me and hesatates very bad what could have happened? PLAES HELP

Could it be bad fuel? Check for water in the fuel.

Well took the boat back to the dealer and they found water in the carbs and the fuel pump was bad also the carbs were cloged up. Well they got all that claened up and fixed put it is still doin the same thing it did to me but it only ideled alot better what else could be wrong with this motor the tech also said it could be a bad coil or could it prob be that the power pack is out of it to.
