150 Yamaha VMAX

I have a 2006 but brand new 150 hp Yahama VMAX carb motor. I am taking it through the break in period this week. I was 3 hours in to it and all of a sudden both my RPM gauge and Speedometer are not working right. The RPM gauge was first to screw up. It was stuck at 2,000 rpms when it should have been 3,000. It then moved around a little bit but wasn't correct. The Speedometer was working fine. Then a little while later the speedometer got stuck. It moved around a little but wasn't correct. I can't believe it. Any ideas on why it is happening? Thanks

For the speedometer, it could be trash stuck in the pick up hole on the front of the lower unit. Now for the RPM gauge, it could just be off and need adjusting. I have same boat and when it was new the RPM gauge was off big time. Had to bring it to the shop so they could adjust it.
