need advice

new to the forum....have a 96 johnson 88horse on a 17 ft center console. trying to find out what rpms I should be running without risking overheat

5500 is the rated max for your engine. Between 5000 and 5500 will get you what you need. Do not overprop the engine, not enough prms will cause carbon build up and kill the motor. The closer you get to 5500 ,the better off you are,.
