starter probs 98 pro v 150hp

having a problem with the starter sticking..i think the bendex is sticking up..turn the key the boat starts no prob..but it sounds as though the bendex is staying up for about 1-2 secs after the boat is going..any ideas? I was told the benid might need to be cleaned and greased... what do you think?

I had that problem many years ago with the same engine (only an '85). I used to place a tiny drop of oil on the shaft and it would be fixed for about a year, then would need another drop of oil.
