I have an 06' 250 hpdi and use ring free each time I feel up. I understand that ring free is not a gas treatment, but an additive to reduce carbon build up. My questions is why doesn't yamaha create a yamalube oil that contains an additive to reduce carbon build up. My last motor was an Evinrude and the oil I used (xd50) contained an additive that did just that. It would be easier than having to purchase ringfree and add it to the fuel..........I was just curious?? Anyone know.

Yamalube also has additive in oil , ring free is added protection.
ZXD is right. We sold Evinrude for a long time and they also recommend running their carbon guard as well.
Yamaha is very proud of ring free. Walked into a dealership, grabbed a bottle without looking at the price. Needless to say I was blown away when I got up to the counter.

We had a new Cabelas store open up my why a short while ago. I saw Ringfree for $5.99 a bottle. I brought it to the counter and asked them to check the price as I thought it was a mistake. They told me it was an overstock special. I bought the whole shelf. When I run out, IÂll go back to Seafoam.
