No you don't need to fill the tank up. If I want to shock mine I run one tank down to about 8-10 gallons and pour a whole can of Sea Foam in it.. I then take it to the lake and run most or all of it out. This will decarbon the engine. IMO, Sea Foam is better than ring free.
So shock treatment is basically adding alot of seafoam into a lesser amount of gas?

yes
Ok, so how much is too much seafoam. Because just before I stored mine for the winter I added 4 cans of seafoam to each tank with half tank of gas(8 cans total) in each and ran them till only a inch of fuel is left. She ran fine while doing so.

I use 1 bottle of ringfree every time I fill my tanks (50 gals)

Google "Dunk's Decarbon" and you should fine the info. Basically, what I do is add one can of Seafoam to 3/4 gallon of fuel in a gas can. I have a fuel hose with a primer bulb. I stick the one end into the fuel can with the solution and the other I hook up to the fuel filter intake. Start the engine and let it take in the mix for about 15 minutes. Turn off and let it sit 30 minutes to overnight. Start up and the smoke will be the carbon burning off. Do it again. Two times is usually sufficient. Remember, if you don't have a VRO you need to pour the right amount of oil into the gas can. Dunk recommends doing this every 50 hours.
couple times a year. Mix 1/2 gal of gas or so with 1 can seafoam in a small gas can. Disconnect fuel line near tank and insert hose in the 1/2 gal. seafom/gasmixture. Toss a pair of ears on the motor and fire it up right in the driveway. Set your throttle to maintain 1500-2000 rpm's and let it run. At first the exhaust will be black but eventually become almost clear as the carbon burns off. You will notice your rpm's going up gradually as the motor decarbs and normally will gain 500 rpm's or so by the time the gas can is empty. This "shock treatment" generally takes about 20min to 1/2 hour.

Gonna do this in the next few weeks. Do I run till the gallon is empty and the motor chuggers and die or shut the motor off before the gallon is almost dry?

If you normally run Ring free or Seafoam you shouldn't
have to shock treat the motor.![]()
1 bottle for every tank of gas? I think you're supposed to mix it 1 oz for every 10 gallons of gas you should be getting 2 to 3 tanks out of a bottle of ring free $$$$
You are correct 1oz per 10 gallons.![]()

Sea Foam Tec told me a shock 2 oz. per gallon a regular run 1 oz. per gallon. I was on the phone with him for 15 min. 1 oz. per ten gallons this stuff is not magic. The 1 can for one gallon method is for fuel injector cleaning but if you have been using sea foam all along your good to go. This Sea Foam is great the top of my pistons look like new aluminum when I shined a flash light in to them. Enrico

I was referring to Ring-free not Sea-foam. The ring-free bottle says 1 oz per 10 gallons. Seafoam is one can treats 8 to 25 gallons and I've heard 1oz per gallon too. I've used both and my plugs are still black and oily. I bought the next hotter plug and will try that this year.
2 stroke plugs will always look oily... Thats normal.![]()
