2000 225 EFI oil tank removal/conversion?? To mix or not to mix???

Just recently bought a new to me 2001 Bumble Bee 2100 pro sport with a 200 225 EFI...Motor has not been used much in 10 years...mainly sitting...less than 30 hours on it....

My question is should I disconnect the oil tank and just mix oil every time I fill-up??? Ive read and heard in a few other places/people that when these air pressured oil tanks/systems fail, there is no warning except for motor blowing up??? Is it worth it to pull it all out and just add oil by hand directly into gas tank??? Any help would greatly be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

IF removing, you need to obtain the CORRECT Blockoff Kit for the engine, and remove ALL oil injection components COMPLETELY.

However- I MUCH prefer to RETAIN the oil injection system, and properly MAINTAIN it.

    This includes:

-Annual Inspection of Remote tank and pickup tube for debris/congealed oil

-Annual Inspection of Oil Lines inside cowling. Check lines via the "pinch/bend/squeeze" test... and REPLACE any lines that are brittle, hardened, cracking, or "opaque".

-Use only High-Quality oil (recommend Mercury or Quicksilver Premium PLUS).

Very reliable system, BTW (if properly maintained).

I agree with Don. I've been down that road and removed my oil injection system on a 2001 225 EFI. Pre-Mix is a pain in the butt and after I removed the system I later wish I hadn't. With the low hours you stated on the motor, I'd leave it on for sure...........

Thanks Don & Gary!! I do value your opinions very much...and will inspect and keep it intact...If anyone should know, it would be you guys, by reading many of your past posts...I had it at the shop and was thinking of having it done, while I had it in getting serviced....one question...in your opinion, which is the best spark plug to run in this motor...no mods that Im aware of...thanks again guys!

Stock plug per the manual, QL77CC if I recall correctly. Been down that road too with aftermarket plugs and the Champions came through on top everytime and one hell'va lot cheaper that the premium others available. Most importantly.....if you take care of that motor by the book, it'll last you a long, long time. TLC=A Long Life.

    +1

    Use Champion QL77CC ONLY.
