    Gas line question

I was going to change the fuel line today because I noticed a grey hose coming out of my bubble heading to the motor. It is an 08 - 300xs. Well when I took the top off the motor, the line coming in is black. It seems to enter the large black corrugated hose grey, but the fuel line comes out black so I assume it is spliced inside the flex hose. The flex is solid corrugated plastic so unless my brain is stuck in neutral which is possible, my only 2 options are

    1. disconnect everything and slide the flex cover off, change fuel line and put cover back and hook everything back up.

    or

    2. cut the flex cover with scissors down the middle and change fuel line and just replace it as is with the scissor cut or if there is an aftermarket item with a seam that will seal once in place

    Any ideas fellows?

    Re: Gas line question (barbarian)

You're correct that there is a splice connection inside the rigging tube. This is installed for "ease in rigging".

We commonly utilize a 12" piece of coated cable, inserted into the old line (and the new), with approximately 3" exposed between the two lines. Utilize electrical tape (or duct tape) to SECURELY tape from one hose, across the exposed "coated cable", and onto the new hose.

You can then usually snake the new hose into the rigging tube, all the way to the fuel pump (one piece) via the "push-pull" method.
