    Mercury 2001 250 Pro XB

Guys I have a 2001 Mercury pro XB engine and this weekend it was very slow to get on plane. It was bogging down and slowly increasing RPMs until it finally got on plane. It seemed to be running fine except for this issue. My budy suggested changing out the spark plugs. Can anyone give me some advice on what might be going on. Thanks so much in advance.

While your changing out for new plugs, give your motor a compression test to see what it's current state of health is. Could also be bad fuel amoung other things.

+1 ALWAYS best to start with the BASICS:

    -Compression test
    -SPARK TEST
    -Fuel Delivery and Pressure Tests
