Out on the lake today and noticed my engine, 05 Opti was having issues. I would be running WOT and the motor would start sputtering and decrease in speed. Never had this happen before, and it did it a few times today. Any ideas? Thank you.

Plenty of ideas!
However, we might be able to narrow that list down a bit if you can tell "which" 2005 Optimax you have (preferably including the serial number).![]()

If it is the fuel lines, is that the only thing I need to correct. Should I take it in and have injectors or anything else done? Thank you.
I would recommend pulse fuel pump kit AND fuel filter (see below):
Fuel pump kit: 857005A1
Fuel Filter: 8M0020349
Tool for filter: 896661

Thank you Don for all the help. When I replace the fuel pump with kit 857005A1, is there any special tools or can I do this at home? I have the merc manual 90-859769R03 that I can reference if I can do this by myself. Ill call tomorrow and order all the parts. Thanks.
If you have a reasonable amount of mechanical inclination.... you should have no problems rebuilding the pulse fuel pump. It even comes with an instruction sheet, and a nice breakdown showing the properly assembly order.![]()
