    Hey Canon guys

Anyone have a 18-55 EFS kit lens that they would want to trade for a 50 F1.8 EFS lens? No scratches takes great pics just looking for something with a little more real estate...

    Paul,
I would really reconsider trading off that 50mm, especially for an 18-55mm kit lens. I think at the end of the day you may regret it. Optically the 50mm you have while an inexpensive lens its superior to the 18-55mm kit lens. The difference is staggering if you compare the two, its not even close. I have owned both and the 18-55mm was replaced in my kit in short order when i had my rebel since i wasn't too happy with it. Its focus is slow and its awful in low light especially at the far end of the zoom. Its also not a very sharp lens overall. I replaced mine with a 17-85mm and was much happier with it. Its a much sharper lens and while also not the greatest in low light either, outdoors it was superior to the kit lens in both sharpness and color.

I have since replaced the 17-85 with a 24-70L so i don't use that one any more either. I would be willing to part with either for the right price, the 17-85 is a $600 lens new, id take 250 for it and the other one 50 bucks. If you want i will take some test shots for you so you can see what they can do. Both are in like new condition.

    Jim,
Thank you for the response and the information. I agree with you on the sharpness of the 50mm and it being superior to the 18-55. My dad actually has an 18-55 that came with his Rebel kit and I have shot with it a lot. For what I am wanting it for it performed great. The biggest problem I had with my 50 is in my boat. I only have a 17' tin boat and to get someone completely in the frame, I have to stand on the back edge of the back deck. I just hate doing that. Since there is decent lighting most of the time I am fishing I think the 18-55 would be fine.

Thank you for the offer on the 17-85. That sounds like an AWESOME deal but unfortuately all of my play funds are going towards finishing my mancave (basement). If I wasn't in the middle of that project I would definately take you up on that offer. Thanks again
