    Pump bulb before cranking 200 Optimax?

    Hello, wanting to do things right with my 1st DFI motor, it's a 2002 200 HP OPTI and after setting up a few days it takes 3-6 starts to keep it running. It will crank right up each time I hit the starter, but dies after a couple of seconds, then on the 3rd to 5th try it will stay running. Wondering if I pumped the fuel bulb a couple of times it might help, but didn't want to try this without ya'll expertise, a friend of mine told me I should not have to pump bulb with the Opti. Thanks for any assisstance.

    I always pump mine and it fires right up. I think Don recomends to pump it before every start.

    Recommend pumping bulb firm before EVERY SINGLE engine start. This ensures good (and adequate) LIQUID fuel supply to the system prior to firing off the fuel pumps.

    Also- VERY important: Make sure you're applying ABSOLUTELY NO THROTTLE. These engines are designed to be started at the IDLE POSITION ONLY.
