    Driveshaft seal

Walked by the boat in the garaga a few minutes ago and noticed a small puddle of oil about the size of a quarter under my motor dripping of of skeg. located the oil coming out of the 4 water intake holes on the front of my torquemaster L/U. Could this possibly be coming from the driveshaft seal? I smelled it and it was not the same smell as opti oil by comparison. also was not milky but more of a clearish blue. What should I expect to pay to have gear oil, seals replaced, and water pump checked out w/ impellar replacement. 04 250 xs serial# 0T819235.

    Jerry:

The driveshaft seal likely is the cause. A pressure test of the gearcase (once fluid has been removed, and gearcase removed from the engine) is the best way to confirm this.

Should it turn out to be simply the driveshaft seals.... I'd recommend replacement of the carrier w/seals (assembly).... Part# 840836A2. Simply grease the seals that come in the carrier... install and bolt down.

If you're having this done in a shop, cost will vary based on the shop's labor rate, and precisely WHAT is being done/replaced.
