Okay folks, I want a new jackplate and I want to know what everyone prefers: hydraulic or manual? What make? and why would help. It is going on a 20xdc with a 250 Pro XB.

If you have the money for the hydraulic I would go that way there is nothing like being able to ajust the motor hight for the running conditions.

Just to let you know what I`ve found out just recently..... the 10" rapid jack that came on my `94 20 XD is made with 3/8 " angles. The boat was originally set-up with a 175 Johson which was fine. After 12 years with a 225 Johnson ...I traded to a new 225 Merc Pro XS this spring. I saw a post on here about Rapid Jack and 3.0 Liter engines. I talked to Rapid jack last week and they do recommend the 1/2" angle type jacks for the 3 liter engines. They have 2 Magnum 1/2" jacks... one is for engines running above the pad. they are a little less than 400$ and come in different set backs.
Just might want to keep in mind about the beefier plates when you`re looking.
