Throttle Got Stuck On

I was cruising into the ramp area and made a turn about 40 MPG. I Let off the gas and she just kept on going. I trimmed her down, set the hydro jack all the way down and pulled the kill switch.

Would have been scary if going faster.

Troubleshot her at home and found that a plastic bleed line between the air induction manifold and block came off and was sucked into the lower air shutter. Sticking the shutter and throttle open.

Easy fix, glad I caught it. Anyone else ever have this problem. FYI: Check and maintain anything that can get loose near the linkage and shutters.

Glad to hear all is okay and it was a simple fix!!!

The biggest culprit usually is the hot foot spring breaking and if ya have to let off at the last miniute and the spring is broken without your knowledge, well lets just say things can get very interesting

My 20xdc/300PM did the same thing to me twice.But i was doing 90mph coming to an overpass that i didn't know where the right way to pass was..i pull the kill switch also..Then changed all my fuel lines..Scared the crap out of me..

I have had my hot foot get stuck with a rubber worm before. Made me glad I didn't take off that annoying toe hook.

Man, I bet the fuel lines wasn't all you had to change.

I was talking to Paul Nichols about this and he told me he had a throttle stick at 120, had to reach down and try to force it up, it didn't work, he got the boat down to 118 and killed it. He was glad he had all his safey gear on.

Like the guys above said, these parts are now all high on the maintenance list.

You never know.

Funny story. A buddy of mine had a Triton. It had a hot foot that didn't have the spring hooked up. He thought the hook in the back was to slow it down. He spent months pushing down that throttle and pulling it back up with the back if his foot. He got in my boat one day and said WTF, is that the way it supposd to work.
