Max RPMs?

What is the max RPMs for my 2001 ox66?
I ran my boat today and I think my tach might not be right.
Will it give an alarm if red lined? what is the alarm ? is it load enough to hear at WOT? Help please I am concerned.

Rev limiter is 6150 I think. I would prop it run around 5800-6000 myself. I don't remember my 200 OX66 motor having an alarm.

I dont think mine had an alarm, just would cut out when you hit the limiter.

How do I know if mt Tach isnt working right?

6300-6500 then I shut it down

Pull the plastic cover off of the ECU, see if the grey wire has been cut. 6500 is easy with the wire cut.

What prop are you running?? What pitch and brand?? I don't think your turning that many RPMs

I would bet tach is wrong Benny. Unless you turning a 20 pitch prop or your gps shows a lot more speed than other boats like yours.

The only info I can see on the prop is 25M. Iwas only doing about 60.5 mph and felt like I had plenty left.....I was still trimming

Thats a good prop Thats the Yamaha series prop Its a 25 pitch prop

That M series is a blade slinging bitch.. I got one in my shop i use for a door stop.

can you test it or do i have to bring it in to a mechanic?

Get the brand and model order one online eBay amazon etc change it! About 60 $

benny are you hearing an alarm or just askin if there is one , if your hearing one might should check your water pump and you engine temp

Not fimiliar with that motor but had a similar experience. I had a new tach put in to match my other gauges and it was reading high for what seemed right. Called Greg at rothwell who had done my work and found out the tach had a few different settings for diff motors. If to think its been replaced shine a light under the console at it and look for a little adjust with numbers. Mine was a plastic screw. Prob not your issue but thought it just might help

Not hearing any alarm just not comfortable with rpms.

I would put my money on the tach being off....when i bought my boat my tach was way off also....had to bring it to the shop so they could adjust it....
