    Gearcase design and functionalitly differences?

After my lower blew out last weekend, my Torquemaster gearcase is getting replaced with one of the Verado style cases. What are the differences in the two cases. Are the water intakes set up the same? I've heard that the verado case is stronger, is that true? Any disadvantages to the Verado case over the TM case?

Functionally, the two gearcases are very similar. Dual water pickups on both cases.

The VERADO style case has a GREAT track record... very few problems with them. Unlike the Torquemaster, the Verado case is "dual shimmed" (the bearings for BOTH forward and reverse gears are fully shimmed). Additionally, the Verado case is capable of "reverse rotation" (with only a minor modification).

The Verado case will use a STANDARD Flo-Thru Torque hub kit (not the fat-shaft kit used on the Torquemaster). Don't let this alarm you.... the "important" part of the propshaft (inside the gearcase) is IMPRESSIVELY SOLID!

The Verado case is slightly longer, and does NOT have a torque-tab cast into the skeg.

Shift cable direction is REVERSED (as compared to the Torquemaster).
