Lower Unit leak on 08'250 Pro XS

Last 2 times changed lower unit oil showed water in lower unit. The 2nd time had dealer change lower unit oil and fall of 09 had water in lower unit. I changed oil myself, I think it was Oct. or NOv. 09 and the lower plug show signs of leaking. I used 2 new seals or metal gaskets on both plugs. The darn lower plug has a slow leak. Is there a different seals besides those blue metal seals. Are there different seals or do I need to silicone? I am frustrated, I think I've had 4 other Mercury products and no leaks in lower unit. Thanks in advance for the help.

if too much lube was put in the case, it can push out the seals and cause the case to leak and eventually fail. Fill to the bottom of the vent hole and then drain out 1-2 ounces and install plugs.

Also, if you've had TWO occurances of water in your gear lubricant, I would HIGHLY recommend that you have your gearcase PRESSURE TESTED. Make sure that it's checked at several different pressures: 2, 5, 8, 12, 14-15 psi. At the higher pressure.... pay very close attention to the PROPSHAFT SEAL.... spray soapy water around it while spinning the propshaft.

An "inner propshaft seal leak" may not show up until you reach this "high pressure".

Note: ALL lubricant should be drained from the gearcase to perform a pressure test.

My local man has done a pressure check, but thanks. I will see if have new yellow seals? Are they metal or plastic? Do they work better.
I double read your post, I will check with my man on the higher pressure.

The yellow seals are a "plastic seal".
