    Run'n on the hose questions

    Don,
Please clear up these 4 questions that I've heard so many variations to about running on the hose using the proper adapter on the lower unit of course.

This is in reference to a 3.0L 250 EFI & 3.0L SportMaster with a Merc hose adapter on the nose.

** What's the max RPM on the hose ?????
** Can you run higher RPM's if theres more water pressure ??????
** Is there such a thing as to much water pressure/volume ????
** Does it hurt to leave the water on when the motor isn't running ?????

    Thanks

    Gary

Recommended that you not exceed 1200 RPM when utilizing this type of attachment: PRIMARILY DUE TO A NO-LOAD CONDITION ON THE ENGINE!

    Not recommended (see reason above).

Pressure: YES. Although there's not a "technical specification", I would not recommend anything in excess of 75 psi pressure (when dead-head tested at the hose bib). I primarily use 45-65 psi on our water system.

Volume: No. You'll not be able to (at the above pressures) flow more water throught the water intakes than the engine can handle (under any reasonable scenario).

No, it does not harm the engine (but is certainly not a "green" practice).
