    BASS Federation Qualifyer

Change in format needed, I don't believe you find the best KANSAS fisherman by having one Qualifyer event which is generally held out of state. There needs to be some rules such as you have to be a Kansas resident if were going to continue to fish Ks. qualifyers out of state. Mr Bass tournament is good idea and I like that we qualify 2 for the sate team Maybe all of them need to come from the Mr Bass tournament. Or have a 2-3 tournament format across the state which would negate the home lake advantage to get the rest of the team. Just a thought what do you all think????????????

    Re: BASS Federation Qualifyer (blackwdc)

Why should it be a requirement to be a Kansas resident? That is the reason it was changed to a 3-day qualifier so it would mirror the divisional and make guys put together a pattern that will hold up for 3 days.
It has been tried many different ways throughout the years and they have all worked and produced a good team. If you have ideas for changes to the format show up to the meeting and propose the changes.

No Kidding. I love the KBCF but I wonder some time if the federation has run its course? What can they do to generate interest? I agree the 3 day qualifier builds a better team but is it at the cost of anglers in the tournament. We have a heck of a time each year getting out club to even join the federation. If it weren't for me and a few others beating the drum I am betting out club would not rejoin.

Our club did not reup this past year. Many of our guys dont want to have to drive out of state to qualify to make a state team. Just didn't make much sense to the guys. And most of them have no interest in it at all. Just guys who like to go fishing. Personally I want to compete against the best in the state however i like the idea of fishing instate.

I know our club is debating that same issue. They are talking maybe TBF. I to think the Federation has lost alot of interest.....

To get your best fisherman in the State I woluld think a guy that can put it together at 2-3 diferrent lakes across the state makes more sense then sombody qualifying on one lake. Just my two cents wor th

Damn Melvin that was a little harse....must be an election year....The LBC didn't have any issues with the KBCFN....The issue for the majority of our members was we never fish kansas.... We fish Mo lakes and nearly 1/2 of our members are mo residents. The LBC move made a lot of sense for the guys who fish the state team qualifiers...

Agree with Larry, the club had no interest in fishing Kansas Lakes. The MO federation fits better with the clubs interest in Lakes for qualifying events. The Federation guys complained about fishing MO lakes for qualifers so they moved it to Grand Lake in Oklahoma . Besides our clubs majority had no interest in the Federation what so ever, just a very small group of us. I for one will miss the KBCF but think the direction of the LBC is the correct one. Lots of issues within the KBCF but all the Federation is facing them. If you don't participate in the meetings or get involved then you can't evolve any change for the better.

Our club dropped out of the Federation years ago. Until you see the State of Kansas and KDWP become more tournament and fisherman friendly clubs and anglers will keep going out of state for their fishing fix.JMO of course.

I didn't see where he said your club had a problem wiht the KBCF. If you fish more MO lake than it makes more sence for your club to join the MO side.
I always said if you can catch fish in ks you can catch fish anywere.
Cheaper to keep a kid in tourney fishing than paying attorneys to keep them out of jail !!

    Re: BASS Federation Qualifyer (whoza_daddy)

As far as Kansas lakes go and the federation/qualifiers is concerned we have some good lakes I just think we should have the qualifiers held earlier in the year instead of holding them in September and having the shit pounded out of them by the time we get there.

Ok everyone lets here what you have to say how the Federation should run. One three day Qualifier or 2 weekends to qualify or or or WHAT!!! Come on let it all out. What about not having a Buddy currcit this year. What would it take to get more participation from everyone. What do you think the State needs to do to get more participaton.

1 Better Economy and cheaper gas
2 2 Qualify for state team from team series is an idea
3 We already have 2 qualify from Mr. Bass which I think is a good idea. This will
keep more interest in your clubs, Our club fishes several tournaments and the
best is sent to Mr. BASS+++
4 Have two quaifying tournaments t/o the year across the state One on the east
and one on the west side of the state to get the rest of the team

We had 5 teams at the team series championship. There was never more than 10 boats at a tournament. We need somthing to give it a boost and icrease the interest. The way it sounds is that its going to take this year off. How does this improve the situation???????

I feel this is the number one reason participation has dropped in tournaments.
Our club fished over half our schedule out of state a few years ago and within the last couple of years we're down to two and our classic. There are so many team circuits out there on Grand,Truman, LOZ and others that a team can fish one lake all season and even fish their classic on that same lake.I sponsored a little team circuit that fished here in KS a couple of years ago and I think they averaged 15-25 teams that first year but eventually I think it went away as well.

Kansas Buddy Bass is another circuit we fish and it averages 25-30 boats and well ran.

Mike Kckinney run the series and does a fantastic job. If you looking to fish be glad to help you w/ more info.

That was it I think? I never heard from them after the first year so I just chalked it up to the economy going to chit or someone else started runninng it.
