what is the diffrence between a fleetmaster gearcase and a torquemaster gearcase?
In 2005, the primary difference between the Fleetmaster and Torquemaster gearcase is that the SKEG on the gearcase has a "Torque Tab" cast into the Starboard Side of the Gearcase (hence the name "Torquemaster").
They are otherwise "essentially identical". Both the Torquemaster, and the Fleetmaster are considered "Heavy Duty" gearcases (and were not used on standard production engines, with the exception of the ProXS models beginning in 2006, and ending this year).![]()
Is your engine an XS Racing version? If not- it likely does NOT have either case (unless it has been changed).
