    SEI lower unit?

Can a private individual buy a SEI lower unit directly from the manufacturer?

Go to this web site http://www.sterndrive.cc/mm5/m...rUnit

and order the V-6 gear case. If you need a V-6 case, you can order a V-4 case also. You will need to transfer the drive shaft from the old case or purchase a new one, transfer the water pump or install a new one and transfer the shift rod from the old case and set the shift rod to the correct height. Add lower unit fluid, follow breakin procedures and have a valid billing concept. Change the fluid after 10 hours.

    Re: SEI lower unit? (ChampioNman)

ChampioNman, I was told by someone on another board that SEI would not sell me a lower unit for a 2003 200 hp evinrude ficht. Supposedly, it was to strong, that makes no sense to me, if they are putting the same LU on 225 and 250 engines. Any validity to that statement?

Now, let me quantify my comment. Yes SEI will sell you a case for your DFI motor but you need to contact them for their warranty on DFI and E-tec motors. They have no problem selling a gearcase for any OMC/BRP carbed motor up to 3.0L. Getting into a 3.3, 3.4 L motor and they may have a problem. This is due to the torque. So they may not give you a warranty. If that is the case then contact Riverside Marine in Ark. and ask them what their price is for a certified reman BRP case.
