Try to crank my Johnson 150 V6 Gt and ran into a problem.

The boat has not been cranked in a couple of years. First off the battery had no charge in it so I used my truck to give it a boost but also the part that looks like a starter would not go up to the fly wheel. Is that because the battery was power less or is the starter bad? It would turnover at least when I gave it a boost and push the starter wheel up to the fly wheel but just did not have enough power to turn the fly wheel very well. Any advice?

+1, boosting with jumpers just don't give enough juice...JMHO
