    Those Cumberland Blues

At least that what I call it when you go to that lake and try to catch some bass.

Has anybody been over to flwoutdoors.com and looked at the final days results for the FLW tour event that was held at Lake Cumberland this week. On the final day the field was cut down to the top 10 pros and between 10 fishermen they brought a total of 16 fish to the scales. I have talked about Cumberland on this site more than once and I always refer to it as the dead sea. I know that there is some good fish in that lake but with 50,000 acres of deep clear water it can humble the best.

I saw that as well, they where not happy with the lake. Tough bite and alot of drift wood making a run down the lake hairy to say the least.

I have never fished Cumberland but have boated and house boated on it many times, although it has been several years since I have been on it. It always gave me the impression that it would be a tough lake because of the size, depth and water clarity. Seems my impression is pretty accurate considering the results of this tourney.

I watched the weigh in every day and posted the results here in the lounge. The smalljaw bite was decent but some guys only got spots.
One fella from Tn. said he had the hairiest boat ride he's ever been in because of all the trees/logs floating Imagine that!!

    Re: Those Cumberland Blues (kyrangerman519)

Cumberland is just one of those kill'em or nothin lakes. It just turns out that the time they were there was one of the touger ones. I know it also has to be tough to have never been on the lake before and only get 3-4 days of pre-fishing. One thing that I must say is that I noticed most of the guys complaining about breaking fish off because of the very small line they were using. Well, I just have to say that you dont have to use that small of line on cumberland just b/c its clear. I rarely catch any of my fish on any smaller than 20lb fouro line. But, I can admit, if I were in their shoes and coming to such a deep clear lake that I am unfamiliar with I would do the same. The guys made good of a tough situation though. I was very happy to see the Richmond local David Lawson win the co-angler. I know David and he is a great guy. I went and watched the day 3 weigh in, as I was walking around I saw two boats w/o lower units on the motors. Lol I felt for them. Those c-land logs dont mess around.
