    winter storage question

Since I am new to storing a boat over the winter. I am looking for opinions on if I should put my trailer, with boat on it, up on jack stands over the winter to keep the tires from flat spotting? The boat will be stored in the garage of my house. I used to put my classic car up on stands over the winter so I was just thinking…?

Re: winter storage question (buck up)

I honestly don't believe it matters anymore. Mine sits on the tires from roughly 1 November to the 3rd week in March usually, and tows smooth as silk. That's on a tandem, so half the load on each tire compared to a single axle.

It can't hurt to do it... when I got new tires a few years ago, the guy at the tire shop told me that new tires virtually can't get flat spots anymore. I still do it with mine because my boat gets parked on grass over the winter, so it's more to prevent dry rot or building up of mud, grass, snow, etc. on the tires.

I put mine on jack stands. It certainly can't hurt.

One tip that I think I read here a while back was to lossen your straps and winch over winter. Especially in colder climates. This can ease the pressure from the eylets and may save some cracking later in life.

I let the pressure off my straps every time I'm not gonna be using the boat for a few days.....Put the trailer on blocks for winter storage too.
