Friend of mine has a 2003 Evinrude 225 H.O. that he is having problems with. When trying to get on plane he cant get over 2000rpms. After a bit of playing with waves he sometimes can get it go, but he said its nearly impossible. Once on plane it wont get over 4200rpms. Initially he had an idle problem, dealer ran some cleaners through motor, now it idles fine, but runs like poo poo. Any ideas?? I have a merc pro xs that had similar problems, and it needed a coil. Sounds similar to me.
