    Ratchet straps for tree stands

Where do you guys recommend getting replacement straps from ?

    I need 16 top straps (~ 8' long x 1"-1 1/2" wide), and 32 side straps (~ 16' x 1" wide).

I'm afraid to use the cheapy harbor freightones, and I've not seen good reviews on the ones cabelas and BPS sell.

I am not above painting them if they are a high viz color either. Not worried about the game, just pther game hunters (I've had 4 grow legs in the past few years)

DO NOT use harbor freight straps. Order from the original manufacturer. Do not paint them either, the paint chemicals can weaken the material causing them to fail. It is not worth your life to skimp on the straps. I teach hunter education and run a guide service and will not compromise on safety.
You also have to remember that deer and most other mammals do not see color as we see it, mud will cover bright colors enough.

The original manufacturer only provided rope for the side straps.....

I use ratchet straps that the give us at work for securing loads on the truck...overkill, yes..but safe...im sure home depot or maybe even napa have some that would do the job..just get black and spray paint the shiny spots..but let it air out for at least 3 weeks before puttin on your stand...deer seem to remember paint smell for a long time....

I use heavy duty ratchets from tractor supply. I think they are rated for 750 or 1000 lbs. 2 per stand. and always use a harness

I use straps on every single tree stand I put up. I do not want to fall out even if they say its totally safe. Especially at 20 feet in the air. I always use the heavy duty straps, just make sure you tie them back so they are not dangling down. it will spook the deer somewhat if they are dangling.

Re: Ratchet straps for tree stands (Bassman25)

I have used blue, red, dull yellow.. Doesn't matter to me as my stands aren't hidden and they are locked on the tree. Change them every year or so. If they rust out I just replace them. I got one stand that the strap and buckle lasted almost 3yrs. I like the mud idea a lot. Great tip for the yellow ones I have..I try to find them on sale at wally world or Northern. Found some that were for atv's that were camo a while back too..

Just be sure and use very good straps, my son broke his back last year because he bought cheap straps!
