    Will not idle

I have a 2002 Stratos 19XL with a 200 Mercury engine. I can leave the ramp in the mornings and have no problem with getting the boat on plane or getting it to idle after a little warm up of course. when I get back to the ramp and drop my partner off to get the truck I will sometomes cut the boat off. I then have a hard time getting it to idle. Once I get it to idle I start to get it on the trailer and it just bogs down and cuts off. I have to try it 3 or 4 times before I can get it up there or sometimes I just wrench it. This doesn't happen all the time but like 1 out of 5 times on the water. Any ideas!!!!!!! Please Help!

    Re: Will not idle (Cuerbo)

Post this down in the Mercury board and you will probably get some good info.

Mine does the same thing from time to time I change the water separator and fuel filter and its fine. Never had this problem until the E-10 Gas came out.

Im not sure if your motor has this but it could be the Throttle Positioning Sensor (TPS). I have a 225 Mercury optimax and I had to replace mine.

There should be an idle adjustment screw. It sounds like it may be idling too low. I had that problem on a Merc. then adjusted the screw and it was perfect.
